About MATSU
Hi, I’m Pratiksha, the founder of MATSU. A Singapore based brand specialising in upcycled kimono bags and accessories.
I started this brand to combine my love for handcrafting, Japanese culture, and sustainability by upcycling vintage kimonos and obis, handpicked from Japan.
I began my career as a Japanese language interpreter, and later studied and worked in interior design. Over time, I felt the need to create something of my own.
That’s when I started learning the craft of making bags and accessories from vintage kimono and obi fabrics. With no formal training, I’ve been developing my skills through workshops and hands-on practice.
Today, I run MATSU from my home studio in Singapore, where I handle everything myself — from designing and cutting to sewing, packing, and shipping.
Each piece is one of a kind, made with care and intention ♡
